7 lbs. golden delicious apples
4 cups sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. cloves

Directions:
Directions:
Peel and core apples . Cut into quarters. In a large pot cook apples in 1 cup of water. Cook on low heat until apples are mushy and soft. Take a potato masher and mash apples. Put apples in a large metal dutch oven and add sugar and spices. Bake in a 350 oven until apples are thick. Stir occassionally so apples butter does not stick. About 3 hours.

This was one of our favorites at Mommy's house. All of the granchildren loved Mommie's apple butter.I made this when my first 2 children were small Larry and Debbie. They loved to clean the pan. They would have apple butter all over them.
