1 large onion, chopped (1 cup)
2 T. margarine or butter
2 cans chopped tomatoes
3 cups chicken broth (or 2 cans)
2 T. sugar
1-11/2 T. crushed basil
1-11/2 T. crushed oregano
Pinch of margoram
1/8 teaspoon salt
Dash pepper
2 cups milk or half & half mixed with 2-3 T. of flour
4 ounces packaged dried tortellini (I used frozen)
1/4 cup finely shredded or grated Parmesan cheese

Directions:
1. In a large sausepan cook onion in butter until tender. Add tomatoes. Place tomatoes and cooked onion in blender and blend until course. Add to saucepan with chicken broth, salt and pepper. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Add spices. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes, cool slightly and add milk and flour. Reheat but do not boil.
2. Meanwhile, cook tortellini according to package directions.
3. Add cooked and drained tortellini; heat through. Spoon soup into bowls; sprinkle with parmesan cheese. If desired, garnish with fresh oregano.
