1 1/2 sticks butter or margarine, plus 1 T. more
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. brown sugar, packed
3 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
2 1/2 tsps. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
1 c. M&Ms semi-sweet, chocolate mini baking bits, divided

Preheat oven 350F. Lightly grease a 13X9X2-inch baking dish; set aside. In a large mixing bowl, cream 1 1/2 sticks butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. In another mixing bowl, combine 2 1/4 c. flour, baking powder, and salt. Combine with creamed mixture. Divide batter in half and put in a seperate mixing bowls. Blend together cooca powder and 1 T. melted butter. Stir into 1/2 of dough and spread evenly into prepared baking pan. Stir remaining 1/4 c. flour and 1/2 c. chocolate baking bits into remaining dough. Spread evenly over cocoa dough in pan. Sprinkle with remaining chocolate baking bits. Bake for 25-30 minutes. Cool completely then cut into bars. Store tightly in a covered container.
