1-9 in. unbaked pastry shell
3 or 4 large baking apples (2 1/2 lb.)
1/2 cup sugar
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2 tbsp. lemon juice
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup flour
1 stick butter

Directions:
Directions:
make an unbaked pie shell or buy one. Prepare apples, slice them, you should have approx. 7 cups. Place them in a large bowl. Combine sugar, flour and nutmeg in a cup; sprinkle over apples and toss well. Spoon into pastry shell and drizzle with lemon juice. Then combine sugar, flour and butter (cut butter in pieces) sprinkle on top of apples. Put in a heavy brown paper bag and fold the end and set on a cookie sheet. Cook at 425 for 1 hour.

I close the bag with a wooden clothes pin and keep a close watch on the pie to make sure the bag doesn't catch on fire.
