2 c. shortening (I prefer butter flavored Crisco©)
2 c. peanut butter
2 c. brown sugar, packed
2 c. white sugar
4 eggs
4 tsps. vanilla
5 1/2 c. flour
4 tsps. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350ºF. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the first 5 ingredients. Mix in the vanilla. In a different mixing bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the creamed mixture. Divide dough into quarters and roll each one into a log. Roll the dough into wax paper and chill until firm. Slice and place on ungreased cookie sheet, making hash marks with a fork if desired. Sprinkle tops with sugar. Bake for 12 minutes.
