3 c. granulated sugar
1 c. white corn syrup
1/2 c. water
1 tsp. vanilla
2 egg whites
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. walnuts or pecans, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Cook sugar, syrup, and water to the hard ball stage on candy thermometer or when drops of candy form a hard ball in cold water. Beat egg whites with salt and vanilla until stiff peaks form. Slowly fold hot sugar mixture into egg whites until mixture loses it's gloss. Pour immediately into buttered container or onto wax paper, cool completely before cutting.
