1 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
3 cups sugar
5 eggs
3 1/4 cups cake flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp lemon extract
1/2 tsp coconut extract
1/2 tsp rum extract
1/2 tsp almond extract
1/3 cup sugar

Cream together butter and shortening until fluffy. Gradually add the 3 cups of sugar beating for a total of 6-7 minutes. Add eggs one at a time beating just until yellow disappears. In a separate bowl, mix together cake flour, salt, and baking powder. Add to butter and sugar mixture alternately with 1 cup milk beating after each addition. Begin and end with the flour mixture. Add the next four flavorings. Bake in a 10" tube pan at 325 for 1 1/2 hours.

Make glaze: On stove top, bring to a boil the 1/2 cup water and 1/3 cup sugar. Add the almond extract. Pour over cake while still warm.
Let cool in tube pan and remove.
