c butter
2 c sugar
4 eggs
3 c flour
1/8 tsp salt
tsp baking soda
1 c buttermilk
2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp almond extract
Grated peel of one large orange

Directions:
Directions:
Beat butter until creamy. Add sugar and mix until fluffy. Add an egg at a time, mixing after each. Sift together flour, salt and soda. Add the orange rind, vanilla, almond extract and buttermilk together. Add the dry ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk mix, until all is blended together.
Pour into two greased and floured loaf pans. One large and one small. Bake at 350 for one hour or until a toothpick comes out clean from the middle. Cool for 5 minutes and then turn out on a wire rack and cool.

This is really good poundcake. We serve it with strawberries and whipped cream as a dessert. It is also great with fresh peaches. You can also freeze this pound cake.
