3/4 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. shortening (crisco)
1-1/4 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
3 tbl. milk
1 tbl. vanilla
1 egg
1-3/4 c. flour
3/4 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. baking soda

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375. Combine peanut butter, shortening, brown sugar, milk and vanilla in large bowl. Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended. Add egg. Beat just until blended. In a separate bowl combine flour, salt and baking soda. Add to the creamed mixture at low speed. Mix just until blended. Drop by heaping spoonfuls on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten slightly in criss-cross pattern with fork. Bake for 7-8 minutes or until set and just beginning to brown.
