Ingredients:  
1 Chicken (lrg. Layer 2 tsp. Baking Powder
or old Hen preferably) 5 T. Shortening (Crisco)
2 C. Flour Water to make a soft dough
1/2 tsp. Salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cook Chicken and drain from broth.
Mix next five ingredients and make a soft dough. Roll out like pie crust and cut into squares. Drop into hot broth. Cook till done.

This was a recipe I have eaten since I was a child. I remember when we butchered our own chickens and they had the eggs inside, Mom would cook them with the dumplings and Tom, Jo and I would fight over who got them.
