2 C. Brown Sugar 1 C. Raisins stewed
1/2 C. Butter 2 1/2 C. Flour
3 Egg Yolks 1 tsp. Soda
1 C. Sour Milk or Buttermilk 1 tsp. Cinnamon
1 C. Walnuts chopped 1/2 tsp. Nutmeg
1/2 tsp. Allspice 3 Egg Whites stiffly beaten

Sift dry ingredients, cream butter and sugar. Add egg yolks. Add dry ingredients and milk alternately. Add nuts and raisins and egg whites.

Bake in casserole dish at 350 until straw or toothpick comes out clean.

This cake was remembered by my Mother, Esther Hummer) Fryback, as one of the Hummer family favorites. All the baking and cooking was done by a wood burning kitchen stove. Which I remember my grandmother used well in to her later years.
