"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain
This recipe for Shrimp Dip, by Geri Kuzmiak, is from Our Mother's Recipes ,
one of the cookbooks created at FamilyCookbookProject.com. We help
families or individuals create heirloom cookbook treasures.
1 small box lemon jello 1/2 cup boiling water 1 tablespoon lemon juice 6 tablespons horseradish 8 oz chili sauce 1/2 - 1 lb. fresh or frozen shrimp or 2 small cans of shrimp
Dissolve jello in 1/2 cup boiling water. Add lemon juice, horseradish and chili sauce. Cut up shrimp. Combine jello mixture, the horseradish and shrimp. Let set in refrigerator (ok if overnite). Serve with crackers.
Note: If using frozen shrimp, defrost the shrimp before adding to the other ingredients.
Our Dad liked this recipe, and especially enjoyed eating shrimp. I recall making it for him to take to a New Year's party when mom was unable to cook anymore.
