When eating your soup;
Tip the spoon away from you,
Then sip from the nearest side,
Set your spoon on the plate
That is under your bowl,
And make sure it's secure,
That it will not roll.

But if your soup is served
In a plate low and wide,
Then it's all right
To leave your soup spoon inside.
And if the dish has handles,
You may lift it and sip,
But never if it's a bowl
With only a lip.

If you're served iceberg lettuce
That comes in a wedge,
If you have no knife,
Cut with your fork, use the edge.
And hope (even pray)
It won't scoot onto the floor;
If it does,
I suggest you head for the door.

Corn on the cob
Is so much fun to crunch
But it sticks to your teeth
In a real ugly bunch.
So unless you're with family
In the outdoors somewhere,
I suggest you don't eat it
For people might stare.

If you're served iceberg lettuce
That comes in a wedge,
If you have no knife,
Cut with your fork, use the edge.
And hope (even pray)
It won't scoot onto the floor;
If it does, I suggest you head for the door.
