1 quart sliced cucumbers
1 onion
1 red mango
1 tsp. mustard seed
1 c brown sugar
1 c vinegar
1 T grated horseradish
1 tsp. turmeric
25 whole cloves, if desired

Directions:

Slice cucumbers, onion and mango. Cover with salt water for 3 hours. Drain. Boil all together 1/2 hour. Can and seal.

These directions are as written in Mom's handwriting on a recipe card and need some interpretation. We always called bell peppers - mangos - so think red bell pepper. Also, the directions call for a salt water soak of which the strength is not included in the ingredients. Use your own judgement to determine the degree of salt you wish. It is a good relish as a side or to add tang to sandwiches.
