Boil 1 package raisins 15 minutes - cover tightly, take off head and let stand 10 minutes. Add: 1 c shortening 2 c sugar 3 tsp. soda in little water 5 c flour 2 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. allspice 1 tsp. nutmeg
Bake as you would any fruit cake in a moderate oven until toothpick comes out clean.
