1 cup margarine
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup light brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs

1-1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt

3 cups uncooked oatmeal
1-1/2 cups finely chopped walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together margarine, sugar and vanilla; then add eggs.

Sift together flour, baking soda and salt; then add to creamed mixture. Stir in oatmeal and walnuts.

Divide into 4 equal parts. Wrap each part in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.

Preheat oven to 375. Slice each quarter portion into 12 slices. Place cookies on cookie sheet and bake 10 - 12 minutes, or until light golden brown.

Years ago when we went camping a relative of ours brought along a tin of these cookies. They were so amazing, I must have ate half the tin. Then later when Mabel came to our little apartment where the "newlyweds" made dinner, she presented me with a pretty decorated box of these wonderful cookies along with the recipe.

They're really great to make up ahead of time in that you can put them in your freezer and slice off just the amount you need each time - or just bake up the whole batch - either way - trust me ..... they won't last long.
