1 1/2 cups of boiling water
1 cup of brown sugar
1 cup of white sugar
1/2 cup of shortening
1 cup of old fashioned rolled oats
2 large eggs
1/2 tsp of salt
1 tsp of baking soda
1 tsp of cinnamon
1 1/2 cups of flour


Topping

1 stick of butter
1/2 cup of brown sugar
1/4 cup of cream
1 cup of nuts
1 cup of coconut

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350
Pour the boiling water over the oats and let stand for about 10 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients as they are listed and mix well. Pour batter into a 8 X12 cake pan and bake until it tests done ( about 35 minutes.) Meanwhile make the topping and as soon as the cake comes out of the oven spread the topping on cake. Return to the oven for about 6 minutes. Remove to a cooling rack.
