1 cup shortening
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
2-1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
Marshmallows
25 caramels
3 tablespoons cream
1 cup toasted coconut

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and brown sugar. Add eggs, salt and vanilla. Beat well, add flour, and baking powder. Blend. Drop by rounded teaspoons. Flatten slightly with glass. Bake until golden brown. Immediately put marshmallow halves, cut side down on hot cookie. Cool. Melt caramels and cream in double boiler. This takes a long time stirring frequently until smooth. Put coconut in shallow pan and put in 350 oven for 5 to 7 minutes stirring often until golden brown. Cool. Spread caramel quickly over marshmallows. Dip top immediately in toasted coconut.
