2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2/3 c. butter or margarine, softened
2 eggs
1 c. buttermilk or sour milk (1 c. milk and tsp. vinegar)
1 c. apples, peeled, cored and chopped
1/2 c. black walnuts or pecans, chopped
1 tsp. cinnamon

Directions:

Mix flour, baking soda, salt, baking powder and cinnamon. In another bowl, cream sugar, 1/2 c. brown sugar. Mix in eggs, buttermilk and flour mixture. Fold in apples. Pour into a 9x13 greased pan. For topping, combine 1/2 c. brown sugar, nuts and 1 tsp. cinnamon and sprinkle over batter. Cover with foil and put in refrigerator until next morning. Uncover and let stand about 30 minutes. Bake 45 minutes at 350. Best served warm. Try drizzling cake with thin powdered sugar frosting.
