2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup shortening
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup white sugar
2 beaten eggs
1 tablespoon hot water
1 package butterscotch chips
2 cups oatmeal
1 teaspoon vanilla
Nuts, if desired

Mix together eggs, shortening, sugars, hot water, and vanilla. Add the dry ingredients and mix well and drop on greased cookie sheet.
