Fill crockpot with peeled and chopped apples - drizzle over the top 4 cups sugar 2 tablespoons cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon cloves 1/2 teaspoon salt.
Put the lid on an cook on high for 1 hour, turn to low cook all day, stir occasionally. When done you may want to run through a blender or mash, if too chunky. Put in plastic containers and freeze. Or it can be sealed in jars. Should be a dark color.
