1 baked 9" pie shell
1/3 cup flour
3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1/4 tsp salt
2 cups milk, scalded
3 slightly beaten egg yolks
2 tbsp butter
1/2 tsp vanilla

3 egg whites
6 tbsp sugar

Mix flour, sugar, salt and gradually add milk. Cook in a double boiler stirring constantly until thick. Add about a cup of that mixture to the egg yolks. Stir and add back to mixture. Cook about 2 more minutes. Add butter and vanilla. Cool slightly. Pour into pie shell.

For the meringue; beat eggs whites until they are a little stiff and then add the sugar a little at a time. Put on top of pie and bake in oven on 350 until golden brown, about 12-15 minutes.
