Personal Notes:
Mom would always make her chili on Halloween Nite. It was such a tradition when we were little. Our cousins would come over. We would eat first and then go out to trick-or-treat. What a great memory those times were! Mom would serve the chili with pumpernickel bread. Since then, I have made this every Halloween and I always serve it with Pumpernickel bread. Delicious!!!!!!!!!! To this day we still make a big deal out of Halloween. Everyone comes over and we decorate the house. My girls know that on Halloween one of the dishes I always make is Chili w/ Pumpernickel Bread. If I didn't it wouldn't be the same.
