spaghetti sauce(recipe follows or use pre-made)

3/4 c onion
1 clove garlic, minced
3 T oil
2 16 oz cans tomatoes, cut up
2 6 oz cans tomato paste
2 c water
1 1/2 tsp oregano
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp pepper
1 bay leaf

Meatballs
4 slices bread
2 eggs
1 lb gr beef
1/4 c grated Parmesan cheese
2 T fresh parsley or 2 tsp dried
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp dried oregano

16 oz package spagetti or vermicilli

Spaghetti Sauce
Cook onion and garlic in oil until tender. Stir in tomatoes, tomato paste, water, oregano, 1 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp pepper, sugar and bay leaf. Simmer, uncovered for 30 minutes; remove bay leaf.

Meatballs
Soak bread in 1/2 water. Add egg and mix well. Add gr beef, parmesan cheese, parsley, 1 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp oregano and dash of pepper. Make into meatballs and brown in oil or butter. Add browned meatball to spaghetti sauce and simmer loosely covered for 30 minutes.

Cook spaghetti.
