1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 large egg, beaten
1-1/2 cups flour
2-1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 cup milk
COATING
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 . Grease or spray muffin pans for 12 muffins. Cream sugar & butter together. Add egg and mix well. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
Add flour mixture alternately with milk to sugar mixture; stir just until blended. Spoon into prepared muffin pans, filling each cup 1/2 full. Bake for 20 - 25 minutes or until muffins spring back when touched in the center. Cool to warm.
To make coating, mix cinnamon with sugar; melt butter. Roll warm muffins in butter, then in cinnamon/sugar mixture. Put on rack to cool.

I usually make them in mini muffin pans and bake for less time. They are more like donut holes and right size for little ones.
