Ingredients:  
2 c flour
1 tsp soda
3/4 tsp salt
2 c brown sugar
1/2 c shortening
1 c buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla
3 eggs
2 squares melted, unsweetened chocolate

Frosting
2 c white sugar
2 squares unsweetened chocolate
1 stick butter
1/4 c white Karo syrup
1/2 c milk



Directions:
Directions:
Mix together in large mixer bowl, flour, soda, sugar, shortening, milk and vanilla and beat for 2 minutes. Add eggs and melted chocolate and beat for 2 minutes. May bake in 2 or 3 pans in oven, 30 minutes until tests done.

Frosting
Mix all ingredients in heavy pan, stir constantly over medium heat 1 1/2 minutes. Set aside and cool. Beat until ready to spread.
