1 cup molasses
1 tsp ginger
1 cup lard, (try shortening)
2 tsp cinnamon
1 cup sugar
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
1 Tbs. baking soda dissolved in 1 cup boiling water
enough flour to thicken (about 3 cups)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream the molasses, lard (shortening) and sugar. Add egg and beat. Add the rest of the ingredients and beat till well blended. Pour into a greased and floured 9 in X 13 in pan and bake at 350F for ~45 minutes. Test with toothpick.
