1/2 C lard
1/2 C sugar
1 egg
1 C cane syrup
2 1/2 C flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 C hot water
1 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Mix lard, sugar, eggs, and syrup, beat well. Mix flour, cinnamon,
ginger, cloves, baking powder, and salt. Add to lard mixture
beating well. Add hot water last. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
