1/2 cup sugar
2 cups sugar
3/4 cup milk
1 stick butter
1 egg

Directions:
Directions:
Place 1/2 cup sugar in iron skillet, over low heat. Mix in saucepan, 2 cups sugar, 3/4 cup milk, 1 stick butter, 1 slightly beaten egg, stirring this mixture over low heat until butter melts. Increase heat and cook until it boils rapidly.

Meanwhile, the sugar in the skillet has begun to melt. When it is a light brown, pour into the other boiling mixture. Stirring fast and constantly, cool until soft ball stage is reached.
