3 c. water (boiling)
1 c. cornmeal
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. water (cold)
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. butter

Directions:
Directions:
Add sugar, salt and butter to boiling water. Mix the cornmeal with cold water and quickly add to the boiling water, stirring constantly until it thickens, about 2 to 5 minutes. Pour into greased loaf pan. Refrigerate overnight. Slice, coat with flour and fry till golden brown. Serve with maple syrup.

I sometimes add 1/2 c. sharp Cheddar cheese to the hot mush. Then pour it into the baking pan and put it in the 375 degree oven to bake until golden brown and serve it much like cornbread. Very good on a cold night.
