1/4 c. olive oil
4-6 cloves garlic, crushed or chopped fine
Salt to taste
4-28oz. can crushed tomatoes
1 - 2 c. water
5 fresh basil leaves, whole or chopped
Optional: 6oz. can tomato paste for thicker sauce

Directions:
Directions:
Cover bottom of pan with olive oil, can use more or less if needed.
Add crushed garlic and salt. Make sure garlic doesn't overcook. Saute.
Once sauteed, add crushed tomatoes.
Add water.
If too thin, you can add tomato paste.
Cook on medium, 1 hour.
Right before serving, add fresh basil leaves to the sauce.
Serve with pasta, lasagna, ravioli, etc.

Almost every Sunday morning, sooner or later we would smell that garlic cooking in olive oil and knew Mom was making her sauce. Mom's sauce is so good. My sister's and I all make it, we may vary here & there, but the basic ingredients are the same. This is so delicious and very easy to make, it doesn't take long to prepare.
