8 lbs granulated sugar
1/2 oz citric acid or the juice of 4 lemons
1 qt of water

Directions:
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a heavy 6 quart pot, bring to a boil, stirring constantly so mixture doesn't burn. Lower heat and simmer for 1/2 hour, stirring constantly. Cool and use as needed.
