3/4 cup butter or margarine
1-1/2 cups sugar
1-1/2 cups mashed bananas
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup buttermilk or sour milk
1/2 cup nuts (if desired)
2 cups flour

Mix all ingredients. Put in 9" x 5" x 3" loaf pans. Bake at 350 for 1-1/2 hours.
