2 cups hot water 2 tablespoons sugar 2 teaspoons salt 1 egg 1 tablespoon shortening 5 cups flour (can use 3 cups whole wheat flour) 1 tablespoon yeast
Put water in bowl add sugar, salt, shortening and egg. Add enough flour to make soft dough. Add yeast. Add remaining flour until dough cleans sides and bottom of bowl. Shape into loaves or rolls. Bake bread 15 minutes at 425º then reduce to 350º for another 15 minutes. Bake buns at 375º.
