1-1 lb. 12 oz. can tomatoes
2 slices onion
1 bay leaf
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 tbsp. butter or margarine
2 tbsp. flour
1 1/2 cups milk

Directions:
Directions:
Combine first 6 ingredients in a 2 quart saucepan. Simmer 10 minutes; sieve. Make a white sauce of butter, flour and milk. Slowly add hot tomato mixture stirring constantly. Serve at once.

Rather than "sieve" I just take out the bay leaf and leave it chunky.
