1 c. butter
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. packed light brown sugar
1/3 c. molasses
2/3 c. light corn syrup
4 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
Icing - optional

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugars together. Add molasses and syrup, mixing well. Sift together dry ingredients and add to mixture - kneading well. Chill several hours until firm. On lightly floured board, roll out to less than 1/8" thick. Cut out with floured cookie cutter. Bake on lightly greased sheets at 350 degrees for about 8 minutes. Cool on racks and if desired, decorate with icing.
