1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. Dr. Pepper
2 c. chopped apples (optional)
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. chopped pecans or walnuts
1/2 c. brown sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugars. Beat until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, sift in dry ingredients. Alternate adding Dr. Pepper, vanilla and apples. Pour into 13x9x2" pan or bundt pan (greased) sprinkle nuts and 1/2 c. brown sugar over batter. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes or until done.
