2 1/2 cups sifted flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 cup shortening
2 1/4 cups packed brown sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 12 oz. pkg. chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts

Directions:

Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside. Melt in large saucepan shortening and add brown sugar. Blend well and remove from heat. Cool 10 minutes. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add dry ingredients gradually, mixing well after each addition. Then add vanilla, chocolate chips, and nuts. Mix well. Spread in well greased 10x15 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Cool and cut into bars. Makes 50 bars.
