3 c cider vinegar
3 c water
5 T pickling salt
Garlic
Dill weed
Red pepper flakes
Pickling cucumbers, go to the farm and buy them or grow your own so you know they are good, and scrub them to get the sharp bumps off.

Directions:
Directions:
Combine vinegar, water, and salt, bring to a boil. Put garlic, dill weed and red pepper flakes (these are all to taste) in hot canning jars, then pack tightly with scrubbed cucumbers. Pour juice over cukes in jars and put a towel over them for 10 minutes. Drain off the juice back into the kettle and reboil, then put back in the jars. Wipe the tops of the jars then top with a hot lid and seal.

My friend Nancy and I made these and I confess I didn't pay attention to the quantities. We had a stock pot full of juice and I ended up with 14 quarts of these awesome pickles. This summer if I can keep the flippin deer out of my garden, I am going to grow pear tomatoes and try to make those yummy green pear tomato pickles that Grandma used to make. I am pretty sure this juice will work with some extra hot pepper flakes.
