3 cups flour
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 eggs, unbeaten
2 T. water
1 tsp. vanilla
Pecan halves
1 package thin, solid chocolate mint

Sift flour, soda and salt. Cream butter, sugars, eggs and vanilla. Alternately add water and dry ingredients. Chill dough in fridge for about 2 hours. Roll dough into small balls. Place a ball of dough on the cookie sheet with a chocolate mint on top, then another ball of dough on top. Press down with palm of hand to completely enclose the mint. Top with pecan half. Place cookies two inches apart on baking sheet. Bake at 375 for 10 to 12 minutes, until lightly browned but not crisp.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
When I was a girl these were part of our Christmas baking tradition to share with friends and neighbors and enjoy for ourselves. What a fun surprise to bite into the cookie and find a delicious chocolate mint!

I'd give up chocolate, but I'm no quitter!
