1/2 C. Shortening
1 1/2 C. Sugar
1/2 C. Cocoa
2 Eggs
1/2 C. Sweet Milk
1 tsp. Soda
2 C. Flour
1 C. Boiling Water
1 tsp. Vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, sugar and cocoa. Add the eggs and beat and well. Add alternately the milk in which the soda has been dissolved, with flour. Add gradually the boiling water and lastly the vanilla. This batter will be very thin. Bake 30 minutes in 325 oven, then increase oven to 350 until done.
