1 qt. cream
4 eggs
3/4 c. sugar
4 t. salt
8 tbsp. lard, butter or shortning
1 tsp. soda
4 yeast, softened in 1 c. lukewarm water & 2 tsp. sugar
8 c. whole wheat flour or more

Directions:
Directions:
Soften yeast in 1 c. lukewarm water and 2 tsp. sugar. Bring cream to boil and add soda; mix; add shortning; cool to lukewarm. Beat eggs until creamy and add the sugar, salt, cream, yeast; mix; add flour, 3 c. at a time, mix after each, until all the flour is used or until you have a soft dough. Roll out dough to about 1/4 inch thick. Spread with butter and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. cut into 1" strips and braid. Cut into 3" strands & place on greased sheet 2 " apart.
Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
