* 1 package devil's food cake mix
* 1 {21 ounce} can cherry pie filling
* 1/2 tsp. pure almond extract
* 1 {8 ounce} container Cool Whip
* 1/4 cup toasted almond slivers

Directions:
Directions:
*Heat the oven to 350.*Spray & flour 2 9" round cake pans & set aside.*Prepare the cake as directed on the box & cool.*Combine the cherry filling & almond extract,stir gently,blend well.*To assemble:Place one of the cake layers on a serving platter.*Spread with 1 cup of the Cool Whip,then 1/2 of the cherries.*Top with the second cake layer.*Spread the remaining cherries to within 1 1/2" of the cake edge.*Pipe the rest of the Cool Whip around the edge & sprinkle the almonds on the piping.**Keep this in the fridge**
