1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
3 c. all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 (4oz) package sweet baking chocolate, melted
2 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. butter

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening. Gradually add sugar, beating well. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Dissolve soda in buttermilk. Combine flour and salt, add to creamed mixture, alternate with buttermilk mixture, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix well after each addition. Add chocolate, beating well. Stir in flavorings. Pour batter into a well greased 10 inch tube pan. Bake 325 degrees for 1 hour and 25 minutes or until cake tests done. Cool in pan 15 minutes. Remove cake from pan and let cool completely.
