1 pkg. or cake yeast
1/4 c. luke warm water
3/4 c. buttermilk
2 1/2 c. plain flour
1T. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. tsp. soda
3T. shortening
melted shortening or butter

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water. Warm buttermilk over low heat. Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening. Add yeast to buttermilk. Mix in dry ingredients. Mix well. Roll out thin and cut with biscuit cutter. Dip in melted butter. Stack biscuit in twos. Let rise 45 minutes. Bake 425 degrees for 10 - 15 minutes or until brown. Yields 10 - 12 biscuits.
