3 eggs
1/4 C sugar
1/2 tsp salt
2 C milk
several slices of stale bread

Directions:
Directions:
Beat eggs, sugar and salt; add milk. Dip slices of bread into mixture and fry in slight amount of hot fat/oleo until brown on both sides. Serve hot; sprinkle with powdered sugar or serve with syrup.

Growing up I can remember when we often had this breakfast
dish for supper,what a treat. Janet Breaux tells the story
about Coon's daughter, Ashley, going to Denny's restaurant
and ordering this dish. Naturally they didn't know what she
was talking about! Who ever heard of "french toast"!! Ashley
just knew that Maw Maw Breaux fixed Pain Perdu!
