1/4 C oil
2 C cornmeal
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
3/4 C milk
3/4 C water

Directions:
Directions:
Using heavy iron pot or skillet, heat oil. Mix dry ingredients; add
milk and water. Batter will be soft. Pour batter in hot oil and let
crust form on bottom before stirring. Put on low heat and stir
occasionally, until couche couche is cooked, about 15 minutes.
Serve in bowl with milk, like a cereal.

Not sure what recipe Grandma Benoit used, but her's was delicious. We always had a bowl of couche with milk and then just had to top it off by eating some with Steen syrup!
