1/3 c. butter 3 c. onions (sliced in rings, or diced) 2 T. flour 1/2 tsp. pepper 7 C. beef broth 6 slices French bread (toasted) 6 slices white cheese 4 T. grated cheese
Sauté onions in butter till soft and brown. Add flour and mix till smooth. Add broth gradually, stirring constantly. Add pepper. Cover and cook over low heat for 30 minutes. Put toast in bowl and place cheese on toast. Pour soup over.
