⅔ cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
⅓cup shortening
teaspoon baking soda
2 eggs
teaspoon salt
water
cup nuts, chopped
juice and pulp from one orange
1 cup dates, chopped
2 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs and beat. Add enough water to orange juice and pulp to make 1 cup. Sift dry ingredients together and add to orange mixture. Add dates and nuts and mix. Pour into greased loaf pan and let stand 20 minutes. Bake at 350 for 50-60 minutes or until done.
