1 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 c. cocoa
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
Large marshmallows, cut in half


3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
1/3 c. milk or water
3 1/2 c. powder sugar
1/2 c. cocoa
1/8 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Measure flour, soda, salt, cocoa, and set aside. Cream shortening, add sugar gradually add well beaten egg. Add flour mixture and milk alternately. Add vanilla. Drop by teaspoon 2-in apart on greased sheet. Cookies will spread. Bake 350 for 8 minutes.
Top with marshmallow cut in 1/2 (cut side down); return to oven and bake 2 minutes, until marshmallows are soft. Cool and spread with frosting.
